The Texas Department of Transportation (Waco District) will switch main lane SH6/Loop 340 traffic to the Eastbound and Westbound frontage roads on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. The traffic switch, to the recently built frontage roads, will allow construction of the new main lane and Old Robinson Road bridge to begin. Traffic will be diverted to the frontage roads, until completion of the main lane and Robinson Road bridge construction. 45mph speed limits will be posted on the new pavement section and message boards will be in place to inform the public of the traffic transition.
This work is part of an ongoing multi-phase project to increase safety and efficiency by extending frontage roads along Loop 340, from IH 35 northeast to US 77, as well as adding an overpass at Old Robinson Road. It is scheduled for completion by the Fall of 2018, weather permitting.
Motorists can expect temporary lane closures, flaggers and temporary delays within the project area for the duration of the project. TxDOT cautions motorists to be alert for construction personnel and equipment in the work areas.
