The Texas Department of Transportation (Waco District) will move traffic, currently traveling on the SH6/Loop 340 eastbound and westbound frontage roads, to the newly completed main lanes which include the new Old Robinson Road overpass, Monday, July 23, 2018. Equipment issues have delayed this until mid-afternoon July 24th.The traffic switch, to the new main lanes and overpass, will allow construction to continue on the main lane frontage roads ramps and connectors. Message boards will be in place to inform the public of the traffic transition.
This move signals the near completion of an ongoing multi-phase project to increase safety and efficiency by extending frontage roads along Loop 340, from I-35 northeast to US 77, as well as adding an overpass at Old Robinson Road. It is scheduled for completion in the Fall of this year, weather permitting.
Motorists should still expect temporary lane closures, flaggers and temporary delays within the project area for the duration of the project. TxDOT cautions motorists to be alert for construction personnel and equipment in the work areas.
