According to the U. S. Census Bureau estimates,
Robinson’s
population in 2006 was 9,716, up almost 24% from the 7,845 people
counted in the 2000 census. In 2000, the five largest cities in McLennan
County were Waco, Hewitt, Bellmead, Woodway and Robinson, in that
order. These latest estimates rearrange the top five to read Waco,
Hewitt, Robinson, Bellmead and Woodway with Robinson having vaulted
to the number 3 position.
New business and industry along Robinson’s Interstate 35 frontage
include SAIA and Southeastern motor freight lines; Kenworth, Volvo
and Mack heavy truck dealerships; Ashley Furniture’s warehouse
and Southern Tire Mart. Other operations in the area include Scholastic
Book Fairs, Pilot Travel Center and various truck service facilities
along with restaurants and a planned motel.
