Sanitary Sewer
The collection system includes gravity sewer mains, lift stations and force mains throughout the city that direct the sewer flow to a master lift station at the lowest elevation in the city. From that point all effluent is pumped to a regional treatment works operated by the City of Waco under contract with the Cities of Waco, Bellmead, Woodway, Lacy Lakeview, Hewitt, Lorena, and Robinson. The city's contract allocation in the plant ranges from a minimum of 0.4 MGD to a maximum of 1.3 MGD. At present, the average flow is 1.08 MGD, allowing some capacity for growth. Meanwhile, work is underway to add capacity at the central treatment plant and construct a satellite treatment plant south of the city, adding even more room for growth. Five personnel are assigned to this function. Major construction work is contracted to the private sector under the supervision of the city's engineers.
Streets
Routine street maintenance to include patching of paved streets and blading gravel roads is done by the seven personnel in the Street Department. They operate a wide array of heavy equipment including motor graders, rollers, trucks, loaders and an asphalt-patching machine. Street construction and major maintenance projects are performed by contractors under the supervision of a the city's engineers. |
