On Tuesday, February 2, 2021, the Charter Review Commission presented Council with their final report which included 17 recommended amendments to Robinson's Charter. The amendments ranged from eliminating unnecessary sections and making language consistent with current state laws to requiring candidates to file to run for one of six (6) numbered council member places and a mayor place and for candidates to be elected at large but by place. The 7-member Commission was appointed by Council in June 2020, met two times over the past month, to review all sections of the City's Charter.
All Charter amendments are required to be approved by voters. At the February 2nd meeting, Council approved to hold a Special Charter Election on May 1, 2021 as a Joint Election with McLennan County.
